Colonie Central High School’s iCARE is hosting their annual Raiderfest on May 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place on Colonie’s athletic fields, but there is a rain plan in place inside the school building if inclement weather occurs. All proceeds from the event will be benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Opening ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. where we will announce our Kind Human of the Year award as well as hear from speakers including Sandra Goldmeer from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Rose Gigliello from the South Colonie Central School Board. There will be music from D. Scott throughout the day and live performances from School of Rock, Lucid Street, and Meegan Mostransky. At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, Student Senate will be kicking off the event with their Color Run beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Other clubs from Colonie Central High School will be providing family-centered carnival games and activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parents are able to enjoy a basket raffle and craft fair with over 40 vendors from various local small businesses run by the Special Education PTA. There will also be a variety of food trucks to enjoy while you explore our Big Truck Expo. At the front fields, we will have bottle rocket demonstrations sponsored by the STEM Showcase taking place at the main entrance from 12 to 2 p.m. A SafeLight helicopter, a rock wall, 18-hole mini golf course, and the Mountain Rottie Rescue will also be available for families to enjoy. From 1 to 2 p.m., we will be holding a sensory hour and a Suicide Prevention Walk on the track around the football fields to honor those we have lost to suicide. To close the event, there will be a Powderpuff football game sponsored by CHAMP, where the junior and senior girls will play against each other with an exciting halftime show.
